Jobs with Alaska State Parks

If you are interested in a regular state position, please see the State of Alaska web site on state jobs, Workplace Alaska. At this time, all job vacancies with the State of Alaska are listed, and applied for, through Workplace Alaska. Park Ranger, Park Specialist and Natural Resource Technician are the position titles that Alaska State Parks uses most often for its field positions. For most position openings, applicants must be Alaska residents.

Alaska Conservation Corps
In addition, Alaska State Parks hires several of its seasonal employees from the Alaska Conservation Corps (ACC) program. To qualify, you must be an Alaskan resident and at least 18 years old! If you are eligible, click here for instruction on how to apply.

Volunteers
If you are not a resident of Alaska, you may be interested in our Volunteer Program. To qualify, you must be a US citizen and at least 18 years old. There is no upper age limit. Most volunteer positions offer either housing, which is usually rustic and often shared, or a campsite, which requires the volunteer to have their own RV or trailer. Also offered is a stipend, if the volunteer stays for the minimum time commitment. The amount varies with the position, but is usually $100 -$300 per month. Transportation to Alaska is the responsibility of the volunteer. Click here for more information on our Volunteer Program.

Most internships with Alaska State Parks are done through the volunteer program. However, the Office of History and Archaeology hires a handful of interns through the Department of Natural Resources Student Intern Program. There are full-time office or field positions in the summer, and part-time office positions in the winter. You must be an Alaskan resident, at least 16 years of age, and a full-time student in good academic standing with a high school, college, or graduate study program. Contact the Office of History and Archaeology to inquire about any current openings, and contact the the Office of Personnel for an application (information below).
